Case Based Social Learning
What is Case Based Social Learning?
Case Based Social Learning (CBSL) consists of a very
interactive online simulation, group meetings, text
messaging and the use of social media. Actual blended
learning! The combination of several types of learning makes CBSL
not only very effective, but also entertaining. Thanks
to recognisable situations and reliable techniques, the
e-learning always remains close to the perception of the
participants, a unique and important characteristic of
CBSL.
Below you will find a film in which Case Based Social Learning
is explained in more detail. (only in Dutch)
Winner of the Audience Award Dutch e-Learning Awards 2011
At the Dutch e-Learning Awards on April 5th 2011 CBSL by
InBrain was the audience's favorite. The jury also
was very enthusiastic about CBSL:
Case Based Social Learning is a nice example of
blended learning with attention to the social aspects of 'learning
together'. Realistic videocases with good casuistry let you
experience how a doctor talks with a patient and decides
on a treatment. Via text messaging students are
informed about results. The e-learning is subsequently used in a
classroom setting where the social part plays an important role.
The remarkable about this entry is that company representatives are
trained by acting as a doctor: not in order to become a
doctor, but to become better conversational
partners for doctors.
Case Based Social Learning in practice
The Case Based Social Learning is now being used in a
large pharmaceutical company. Company representatives get
the opportunity to experience what the work of a doctor is
like. The goal is to understand what a doctor
encounters during daily work. As a result, according to our
contacts, their conversational skills have really improved. The
course members were so enthusiastic that they wanted to do all
four cases instead of just one, even in their spare time.
Additionally, the participants spoke to their
fellow-students about their patients in the corridors. This
e-learning is fun!
Is this learning concept something for you?
At the moment we are working hard to finish our generic
version of CBSL, which reduces the costs of the training
significantly. The generic version contains four cases
and is ready to use as a training, but can also be customized to
fit your situation. Are you interested and would you like
to discuss the possibilities for your organization? Please
