Safe Traffic Netherlands (VVN) provides materials to elementary schools for a yearly practical cycling exam. This exam stimulates the development of safe cycling skills amongst young children (primary school aged).

A lot of schools do not have volunteers and have to organize this exam by themselves. In a lot of cases, the exam is organized by the schools and teachers themselves. Safe Traffic Netherlands asked inBrain to develop a learning solution that assists teachers and parents, who are volunteers, during the organizational process of the exam.

The preparation of the cycling exam starts 10 months before the exam date, and can be divided in different organizational steps. We developed a learning solution with seperate components that incorporates all the steps.

The participants receive an e-mail with information about the next organizational step after a certain amount of time. When participants click on the link in the e-mail, he/she is re-directed to the webpage with the required information (e.g. short explanations and tips & tricks about planning). Every e-mail contains an introduction with a vlog, background information with short texts and illustrations, a manual with the next steps, and useful tips and tricks.

Result

Participants get the feeling that facilitating and participating in the exam is not complicated. In addition, the information is sent to the participants at crucial moments. This means information is provided at the right moment. Completing each step in the learning solution only takes 5 minutes. The learning solution makes organizing an exam easier for the teachers and the parents. Consequently, it motivates other parents to become a volunteer.

Every step logically follows the previous one, answers the questions why a certain organizational step is important, and provides information about how the participant has to organize this. With this learning solution, organizing the exam becomes easy, fun and straightforward.
